Declan is a licensed insolvency practitioner. He is an honours graduate in business administration and finance, and qualified as a solicitor in 1978. Declan is a fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals. He was a founding member of the specialist factoring firm, Wilde and Partners, and has throughout his professional career practiced either in trade and receivables finance or insolvency. He lectures on both trade and receivables finance and insolvency and is the author of articles relating to the subject. In addition Declan was a contributor to the 1st edition of Salinger's text book book on Factoring.
